RE: {Chrysler 300} 1957 300C Air Cleaner Paint

Thanks Henry. I found a place that will sell the color in 11 oz spray cans. Price is a bit crazy: $30 per can + shipping. How closely does the gold color in the photo resemble what they actually look like ?

Hi Ron

There are plenty of emails going back years that you could search on this topic on the Forward Look website.  After a lot of help, I found the easiest way for my painter to get close to the original Chrysler Bronze was to use 1970’s Mercedes “Byzantine Gold Metallic” which is a readily available colour.  I used it on air cleaners and valve covers and was very happy with it – which is all I care about.  Originally, the air cleaners may be slightly different to the valve covers as suppliers were different.

I don’t recall anyone said they could replicate the “exact” colour. John Cote sent me a detailed paint spec back in 2008 that he used. I can send it you if you like, but this didn’t help my painter much.  Other people have suggested various rattle can colours that I don’t remember.

Hey Folks –

What is the consensus on the most correct air cleaner paint for 57 300C ?
