Re: {Chrysler 300} 300F Rear License Plate Bezel

Hi Noel,

I would take 3 of the 300F bronze license plate holders at $400 each.

Thanks,

That is a very good price , lets support this ,
all you F guys , get one ! Even if you  have 1000 to spend you are just not finding one , unique to 300F and always broken by light tap of bumper . Move bumper back 1/2” — by spacers under I always  do now — It was fitted too close to this piece .
As older members know I poured 5 k$ into this , many years back three different ways , bronze artisan, injected plastic ( Big tooling  $, paid it) , then investigation of CNC billet , ( crazy $ for brass block) then three pieces of CNC brass soldered .
Artisan was only one that worked, takes terrific  skill —- as product shrinks 5 % or so from sand mold have to oversize the core piece just right . Iteration , in right places too
got 3-4 that way , but that  guy passed .
Never could find another guy ,—
bronze plated is a spectacular chrome  finish
But hours of hand polish etc . first

Devilishly hard thing to make subtle 3D bends and angles
Injection molded were perfect copy , but plastic used for injection melt cannot take chrome / copper bath temps,  warp .

Aluminum spray type      chrome does not cut it …

3D printing ongoing on simmer now , gave  up on CNC , $ too much , and still hand polish work
So reason for stopping was I would have to get 600+  . 400 by artisan bronze is a terrific deal

One hint to the guy doing it :
Do not cast the mount pins in , tolerance into car body holes is zero ( learned hard way ) pins fat.
Instead mark back of piece on the car body part then tap in there for for 6/32 brass studs , use brass nuts , you can adjust fit slightly and pull it in tight

Good morning,

I just received this email from Allan Klotz in Luxembourg re the rear license plate bezel for our 1960 300-F coupes and convertibles.

Please let me know ASAP if you’re interested in this bezel at the price point that Allan mentions! I’ve been discussing this with him over the past couple years, and no one else has been able to reproduce these bezels domestically.

Allan owns a handful of 1960 Chryslers - 300F and otherwise - and they’re all in beautiful show condition, so we can expect that this bezel will be a high-quality reproduction.

Hi Noel

I finally got in touch with the company that made my bezel around the license plate.

He will cast them in bronze and then have them chrome-plated. The production prize will be approx. $ 400,00. Then there will be shipping cost to the US and custom duty in the US. If I get a quick answer, I can maybe get one or two produced and bring them with me to the meet in Buffalo. Then there will not be any shipping cost and maybe no custom duty.

Please let me hear from you what you decide.

Look forward to see you in Buffalo.

Best regards

Allan
