Re: {Chrysler 300} Re: 62 H brake master cylinder, offshore parts

Hi ,
On a MC , cast iron is cast iron . Parts from China are privately labeled all the time . A way to rip you off , by a third party , by sticking a  flag on it

I just had a recent failure (  think I got it , the unbelievably problem plagued 4 WD drive system in 2011 to 2014 jeep Grand Cherokee limited, mine is 2013 inherited   )  intermittent, of course , with no codes , of course ,     , “service 4 wd lights”  up ,—— that =   NO 4 wd , stuck on a beach ) —

so bad when new a group action happened in Australia , people w family  , brand  new GC 5 k miles , stuck 100 miles from nowhere .Towed . Been there . After tow it was working again

Best 4 wd in world (00 to O4  jeep all hydraulic  quadratrack ,full time 4 wd , clutch pack center lock )  maybe earlier , with a real shift lever, no computer yet  ). That was turned  to useless by mopar computer junk added to it , axle disconnect, motors move the shift lever .. ( joins the heater blend door , another epic failure ,$  2500 labor to pull dash , console seats and dash  steering set up to get to  .25 plastic part, motor driven door instead of a Bowden wire  ) Plastic end on pwr window lift cable  , breaks off ,  same thing
also 4 wd “improved”in GC later than ? 04  such that abs signals will shut off 4 wd if not happy .

mopar wants 1000 $ for the transfer case computer , it has suspect erratic programming (to me, ) I saw a close up picture of it at rock auto including mopar stock # bar codes etc   on sticker .
Noticed “Chinese copy” sold on Amazon had exact same sticker and  same glue blob next to it ,  same angle  , it IS the mopar one . Same picture maybe .
But amazon one claims improved software over “stock”  . Can you believe 79$ ?
So nothing to lose , lets see -put it in . It works fine , still had lights come twice since but they go if you restart . No check engine locked on  .
more important 4 wd is still there
Which one do you want ?

There are 1000 posts on this 4 WD hassle on internet , still no one knows for sure “ the why”   .. not even dealers . People get really upset , 5-6 trips to dealer no result,  problem comes back — especially if not a car guy

Aussies got no response from mopar , ( there is no problem” — “ to : we are looking into it” “ to:will call back in two weeks” dragged for a  year despite a 4 wd magazine soon jumping on this .
The small enthusiast group sued over “ unsuitable for advertised purpose “ as ads showed it on beach. That got action, as full refund of car price results if a loss (law)    . Those in initial suit , petitioner list  got a secret recall new 4 wd computer .

cue :=  my thinking ! need that

Amazon one on doorstep in 18 hours, ~?700 sold . Mopar ( at that time) “part is in backorder “.
Cannot make this stuff up .

4 wd got me over beach today ,fingers crossed, dont  trust the whole deal ,  yes Chinese part as brain .

Why I loved my  02 GC ; great car! they have gone in 2024,25 for 28 k on BAT ,every one knows, it is the ONE .  later ones ( just like MB) are almost free .Known that 5 k in repair attempts   in this result in   whole new transfer case , still same thing happens … sometimes

I bought  an 2017 Liberty , new ,hopeful and bright-eyed ,  gone  to next  sufferer in 6 mo from new , stuck twice .  (“ 4 wd temporarily not available”)?  . We need that error message? why ?

Had two 4.0 (97 and  02) both hit 300k, never stuck once at beach  4.0 may be better than slant even . Certainly equal  , 20 mpg too

Cast iron MC , I am glad someone makes one .

Not on a rant , just way it is in 2025 . Probably no one in US  has (or even can ) make a cast iron MC here for past 20 + years .
If they did , 400$
You would still buy the 39$ one .I would

Sad really, for us .
Iron trans  hard parts , are the real issue  , now for  us ..

Notice big uptick in NOS 300 part prices?
I do ; and they are OLD , esp if rubber involved .

Was in their website. Only saw NEW replacements. Where do you see NOS which would be original OEM made in USA. I’m skeptical unless proven otherwise. Check origin when you get it.

Found one!  The guys at MoParMall.com have warehouses of NOS.  It should arrive today.

Replaced master cylinder in my 300F.

There is a brass adapter that connects the brake line to the cylinder - and it’s leaking - with fluid coming out of the adapter threads on the cylinder side.

The adapter appears to not be as deep as the seat in the cylinder - and the only thing sealing the connection are the threads themselves.

Where can I get the correct adapter?

Agree with Nick.  I recently was looking for break components for my ‘64 Imperial which also has a single reservoir master and 8” dual tandem booster and found what appears to be the a number of single reservoir masters that should work on the 300H:

Good luck!

Anyone have a source for these?  NAPA and Rock Auto seem not to carry them any longer.
