Re: {Chrysler 300} Lead additive

Any street driven engine that has used leaded fuel for a few thousand miles can operate safely on unleaded fuel for the rest of its life or until it receives a valve job. The residual lead on the valve seats provides plenty of protection.

Agreed, with the amount of miles most of us put on our cars unleaded fuel really shouldn’t be a problem in terms of valve seats.

You may drive it around the world and back with no lead and no problem. Does Noel use lead in his F?

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Lead additive

Don’t want to start a big back and forth but I have one of “ those” questions. I have a 63 non letter 383. I have been running a lead additive as I’m not sure if Chrysler was using hardened valve seats in 63. I have heard yes and no. It’s kind of a pain and getting expensive as I do drive the car quite a bit. Some of you gurus: do I need to run the lead additive? It has 93,000 original miles and never been out of the car.
Thanks
