Just observing, a spark will still jump across a poorly made small gap in a crimped on wire terminal, in general, --and you should get it corrected. Check end to end with ohmmeter, under 40 K or so is ok, but even if it's open, the gap has to be 1/4" or more, (unlikely) , in order to cause a complete failure. (obviously not saying ok, just that it will still work) . So, it sounds like a different problem than the wire if not firing.
