Re: {Chrysler 300} 300H for sale

I believe there is another factor involved that has to do with demographics/generational issues.
I've found most people interested in 'old cars' are usually most interested in cars from their youth, perhaps tied in closely with the age they got their driver's license.  I got my license in 1970, right when E-body Dodges and Plymouths, and B body muscle cars were hot.  Totally out of reach for a 16 year old, so my first car in high school was a 63 Plymouth Fury I got in 71.  Back then most cars didn't last 10 years, especially in New England, so it was a fairly used up 8 year old 63, but it was mine!
After I got my first real money-making job in the late 70's, I searched for and found the best example I could  find, which turned out to be a 63 Sport Fury with a/c and a 361 Commando V-8, which was a much better car than the 318 equipped, non-a/c 4 door with rust I had in high school, but hardly a 'collectible' or 'classic' (unless it was a max wedge)
Now, if you were a 16 year old with no money in 1956, you would be turning 25 with some disposable income in 1966 and looking for a 10 year old car of your 'dreams'.
Most, however, are trying to buy a home, raise a family, etc, and maybe don't get around to having the time and money to buy a toy 'collector' car of their dreams until their 40's, so now you're trying to find a 25 year or older car in great shape, but so is every other 40 something who's been waiting for a chance at one, so prices get driven up.
That only goes on for so long.  The average person who was 16 in 1962 is approaching 80 years of age, and sadly, is not in the market for buying the car of their 'dreams', no matter what the price, so it becomes much harder to find a buyer.  Ask a veteran of WWII, as they are getting much harder to find these days, too.
I think the high point for F and G letter cars was around 25 years ago, based on auction results and taking inflation into account.
Down here in Texas there are many 30's and 40's cars still showing up at cruise nights, but about the only thing that is 30's or 40's is their appearance.  Modern chassis, drivetrain, wiring, A/C, cruise, power seats and windows-  Restomods even more so than hot rods.
Not very much in stock configurations.
Look at All-Chrysler Nationals.  I think there are more cars from this century at that show now than the previous century.  Father Time is undefeated.
It's always best to buy what you love, not what the market says everyone should love, and you won't really care that much about what other people think it's worth.  It's much more fun that way, too.  YMMV

Indeed the market is shifting.  Unless it is a true #1 car, with all the rarest options and number matching, it is IMHO the buyers are not paying big money for project cars or driver cars.  The sheer quantity of old cars on the market, for all makes, models is flooding the buyer's choices and driving the price downward.  Remember the passion for the cars instead of the financial greed the auction houses have driven up for over two decades.

Here is a link to a Google drive with more pictures.  BaT would not allow all the pictures we sent them, so this link has extras.  The BaT reserve was $24k, not met, hence offering it to the club for less than the reserve, first one to buy it gets it.  Someone commented on FB that all the work I’ve done to this car would alone cost that much nowadays.  I don’t know about that, but I do think this car is a really good deal.   Oh- I installed air shocks and got a couple inches of lift in the back.

I would go get financing today if it were only 14K! That's crazy it only went that high there...

Wow, the market is so weird here these days. It might be my 300 bias here, but I actually have been distracted by this car, it haunts me at the moment haha!

But that big of purchase would hurt. Someday maybe.

They have it on Facebook as well, which gets a lot of eyeballs.

The beautiful white B updated with TorqueFlite was a no sale on BAT this afternoon, bid to only $32,500.

The Cinnamon G convertible with A/C sold on Monday for $121,500 (plus buyer's premium).

The market is shifting.  It will be interesting to see what the white F brings at the Hershey auction this fall.

WOW! It must be breaking your and Kya's hearts to sell that car for such a low price, especially considering what you probably have in it (I know the feeling). For that kind of money, I would be expecting a car that maybe starts and runs, but needs pretty much a full restoration. But a very clean driver, that someone can start enjoying immediately, with air-conditioning no less, for the low 20s? It really makes me want to  jump back in, but I’ve just got too much on my plate.

If someone here doesn’t snap this up quickly, I would list it on Bring a Trailer with a $23,000 reserve. My bet is it would go higher. In my opinion, that car is still a very good buy in the low 30s. It’s a once in a lifetime steal at $23K— something that in a year or two, someone will be talking to whoever buys it and say, "are you kidding? How did you find that car for that low of a price?"

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Kevin, Chad and all for the positive comments!  I should have included a link to a driving video.  We also have a cold start video and turn signal operation videos.

That is one amazing car there! Color and options are my favorite. I would take it tomorrow but money prevents me- trying to build a garage first, lol!
Good luck with the sale- that's a great price.

Hello group,

We are continuing to downsize and have a driver 300H, listed on club classifieds, priced to sell at $23k.   No letter car at this price point is perfect but it is a turn-key driver.   A few pictures are attached.

Thanks for the ad!
