| As someone who just purchased a 1961, 300 G that is very much a project, I probably should have held off on pulling the trigger and getting something that I could drive, tinker with and enjoy. I’m still relatively young though at age 46, so I’d like to think that I’ve got time, although nobody ever really knows when the good Lord is going to take us home.
My advice would be to buy the best when you can with the funds that you’ve got.
My buddies and I have a saying. “If you can’t afford a nice one, you REALLY can’t afford a bad one”. Sent from my iPhone On Sep 10, 2026, at 14:17, John Grady <jkg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Even so much more important is you lose two years, a lot of that time spent with not too swift but $ motivated suppliers who might take your $ ( same cost amount as that delta , but I think much more( 1.5 x) in 2026 ( you busy through 28 ??!) , and you end up real unhappy and a year or two of your life down the tube . What is your time worth ?managing that , -- during the same two years you could have spent happily riding in it instead of crying and fighting
All of us know this ...
In my early days taken badly behind barn , my 2 F converts behind locked fence , ( stored outside!) saw zero work , 20 k deposit gone " site is under bankruptcy law, " those two cars are assets" he claimed my cars as his on loans , took off to BVI with all the $ . To close this off I went up there the next Sunday 5 AM with bolt cutters two trailers stole them right back . Never heard a word it was so screwed up . But painful lesson, 18 mo and 20 k lost . Back when 20 was worth 40 , before present fiasco On Sep 10, 2026, at 12:48 PM, Tom Wilburn <tomwilburn1@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
I will second that.
Even if your time is free you cannot do that for $22K….. Sent from my iPhone On Sep 10, 2026, at 11:45 AM, 'dave mason' via Chrysler 300 Club International <chrysler-300-club-international@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Hi Nick,
I don’t know the car or your friend’s budget but it seems like a pretty good deal at $25k if the frame and floors are good and if the original miles are that low.
One shameless plug I would suggest as an example for your friend is that our 888 300G is listed for $22k more than that ($47k):
But what you get as the difference for that $22k is a turn key driver that has had the engine rebuilt, the transmission rebuilt, interior done, subframe removed blasted and redone, fuel system and exhaust excellent, engine condition known, all gauges work, factory a/c, windows all work excellent, floors and frame excellent…etc proven road tripped car.
Point being you can’t do all that for $22k, so it actually saves time and money in general to go for a done car… 2¢
