All I found at the end of February was an Auction and Car Show at the Abbotsford Tradex center (about an hours drive outside of downtown Vancouver). http://www.fvtradex.com or http://www.abbotsfordcollectorcarshow.com will give you some idea of what to expect. The availability of rare Chryslers is very limited in Canada it seems and most of the Hemi cars, Ram cars, etc. we see at shows here have come from the U.S. in recent years. There are lots of nice Antiques, Vintage, and Hot Rods in B.C. but many of them are seldom seen at shows in Vancouver. Unfortunately, unless you happen to know someone here with a letter car you will likely never see one, much less find one in a barn. I've only ever layed eyes on two my entire life. As for wreckers, there really isn't much in the area either. The only real 'Mopar only' wrecker is mostly full of rusty B, E and A bodies along with a few 4 door C bodies (usually from the 70's). Not exactly Chrysler paradise though the sites are worth the trip alone, especially if the weather is nice. I'll see if I can find any more events or think of anything car related that might interest you. There are at least three members here, myself included, maybe we could get together? Smokes worse when cold, and has low compression in three cylinders. Trying to put off overhaul as long as I can but still would like to drive. Any one stop oil burning additive that better than another? Tried STP, and also pure synthetic oils as suggested with no luck. Open to any suggestions on a product that might work temporarily thanks hal [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 4 Date: Wed, 14 Jan 2004 20:10:59 -0800 From: Gary Barker <gbarker@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Engine Smoking, any suggestions? Hi Hal, First is whether the engine has a lot of miles and the rings are worn out, or did it sit for a long time and the rings are just stuck. If the rings are worn out there's not to much you can do. If the rings are just stuck there are a few additives that you might try. Right now I can't think of any brand names but there out there. When I worked as a mechanic for Chev. people would trade in cars that had your problem. We carried a additive in the parts dept. that we used to desolve carbon. We would warm the engine up to operating temp. Then while working the throttle we would poor it down the carb. very slowly. It would smoke like crazy out the exhaust. When we had about 1/2 can left you then pulled the throttle wide open and at the same time you dumped the rest of the can down the carb.. flooding the cylinders and killing the engine. Then we let it sit over night. or even two days. Then start the engine and take it out for a hard drive. Most of the time it would work. Go to a parts house and either ask for help or read the labels for something that helps desolve carbon. I know there used to be a lot of people who would use ATF oil, but I don't think it worked as well. Worth a try. I want to put original looking seats into my 1960 New Yorker and there's a set from a 1959 on eBay right now I'm considering. One of the strange things is that the 1959 appears to be out of a 4-door model. Has anyone ever seen swivel seats in a 4-door before? Item #2453708670. The only difference was the retainer that kept the seat backs from rocking forward in the 4dr models, as opposed to a springy thing that was used in the 2dr models. I think you're taking a risk trying to fit 59 swivels into a 60, since everything changed between the two years.
