Know it was compression(but was it a head gasket or a different head, or just a regular one that was milled) and exhaust. I am still seeking info if there was a part number for the exhaust system back from the exhaust manifolds(am aware that these were Dodge truck and I have a pair of them although one is cracked and I either need to weld or hopefully find another one at a fair price). I am not having much luck in finding info on the pattern to have someone build me a exhaust set that conforms to the 355 specs using a standard exhaust pipe bending tool. So am just reposting this exchange that I had a few months ago with Gary Barker to see if anyone has any info that can help me. Just put a 2.92(perfect gear for a torqueflight) rear in the B. Drove up from LA(Riverside) yesterday(400 plus miles). Car cruises easily at 80 to 85. Use to sound like hell at 70 with the 3.36. Love it. 16 MPG and the speedo is right on the button. I assume it was just the regular one milled, but do not know for sure. The 355HP heads were assigned different part numbers, 1730369 and 70. This would be the case whether or not other changes were made besides just milling to achieve the 10 to 1 comp. ratio. The Chrysler letter to dealers, dated June 13, 1956 announcing the availability of these heads, does state they are not interchangeable with the 9.0 to 1 heads on the 1955 model "300s". Certainly the larger (3" dia.) exhaust system would also help with power increase, although for gross HP rating such as 355 was, most of the system would not be in place. Of course, these changes were mainly for the purpose of keeping Kiekhaefer (and others) competative on the racing circuit. I think he pretty much got what he asked for! Hope this answers some of your question. 300ly, Gil [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yahoo!
