Any local upholstery shop can do whatever sewing is required as per your original samples. By doing this locally, it is more convenient and expedient for the car owner and less expensive. Of all the carpet (40+) sets sold thru the club store, there has not been one complaint. Many owners have installed the carpet with simple tools, i.e., scissors, utility knife and spray adhesive. Oakum (carpet pad) comes in various thicknesses and can be purchased thru any upholstery shop. Does George dislike Gary?? How in the world can he suggest that anything would be cheaper by going to a local shop when he doesn't know the shop? That doesn't even take into consideration the quality factor! " to which I will add: 1/ A local upholstery shop will more than likely charge you more than Gary does for doing all that has to be done to the raw carpet to make it usable. Especially if they are going to do it "right" . 2/ if you own a 300F in which the carpet has already been replaced, or is totally rotted out and eaten by mice( like mine) , what are you going to do for patterns? 3/ If you are restoring a 300F and need new door panels as well as seat backs, which are both carpeted, doesn't it make sense to have them made out of the right carpet material by the only person who does them ? or do you want non-matching door panels and seat backs ? 4/ I much prefer to give my business to the one person who has dedicated himself to reproducing the hundreds of restoration items that I sorely need each and every time I restore a Letter Series car, from rubber gaskets to cardboard trunk panels to fasteners to restoring brake and gas pedals . Where are you going to find new console inserts ? Gary Goers. Where are you going to find new door panel metal inserts ? Gary Goers. Whose going to re-do your broken door gap fillers? Gary Goers. How about redoing sunvisors ? Gary Goers. New vinyl covers for the armrest pads ? Gary Goers. Hood pad ? Bumpers and stops? bumper fillers? Gary Goers. Who is going to redo your crappy 300F/G rear bumper guard rubber inserts ? Gary . And on and on and on. Over the past two-three years, I have restored quite a few cars for myself as well as other Club members, and I'd still be looking for parts to finish them if it weren't for Gary. Gary's been a Club member for years and years, owns letter cars, and is a dedicated hobbyist. I'd much rather spend my money with him than some local upholstery shop. End of argument.
