You've done an excellent job telling the story of your weekend in pictures. It is obvious your group shares great camaraderie, and that you each had a great time for the weekend, with your Chryslers. My interest heightened with the '34 Chrysler and the '62 Imperial as well as your '57 convertible, and all the beautiful scenery. Thank You for the report, keep us all informed of activities and maybe some of us will make it over for next year's event! Ron... They came as kits, customizing kits, and promos. The promos typically had fixed hoods, no chassis detail, and often a friction motor. The kits had removable hoods and engine / chassis detail. Customizing kits offered decals, custom parts etc. as well as the stock parts. The only model I know about of a 300F is a 1:43 scale white metal model of the convertible done by Western Models of England. I believe it is long out of production, but might be found by trolling model car expos. Hope that helps, Doug Boulder Creek, CA -----Original Message----- From: David Agnew [mailto:Fnnutz@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, June 02, 2002 9:26 PM To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [Chrysler300] '60 promos To the knowledgable 300 group...... someone always knows, I see plenty of '60 NY'ers, DeSotos, Plymouths and Dodges, from Jo-Han, my buddy has one with working torsion bars for his '59 Dodge. Some have friction drive, some not. Were the friction drive models actually promos? Or toys? And....model buffs.... was there a factory authorised 300F promo? Or indeed any 300F models/promos made in '60. Or just New Yorkers ? Thanks.......... ..........Dave. Perhaps some of you "old-timers" will remember Bob from his car-racing days. Or from his specialty-car dealership in New York City in the 1960's, and, more recently, in the Hamptons. Or for the many, many sketches and drawings of automobiles that Bob loved to make, and give away to friends and acquaintances. I have one such treasured drawing depicting various Chrysler cars, hanging right above my computer as I type this message to you, which Bob generously offered to me a very few years ago, knowing my love of Mopar cars. Many such sketches adorn the walls of local garages where Bob was a frequent visitor, and well-loved everywhere. Bob Grossman will be remembered for his association with Briggs Cunningham and Alfred Momo. He raced at LeMans in the early sixties, Ferraris and then Jaguars with the Cunningham team. He was a local figure in the Hamptons, and settled here in part to be close to his beloved Bridgehampton race track ( which also exists no more ) . He was always active in our hobby, as recently as last September when he and Bill Beutel started off the Bridgehampton Road Rallye, in which John Doyle and I participated. ( see picture at http://www.crossrams.com/brr2001/MVC-014S.JPG ) To read an interesting and amusing interview of Bob Grossman, relating his LeMans experiences and association with Briggs Cunningham, please click on: http://www.westnet.com/~mfrank/grossman.html He will be missed. I have been emailing back and forth to Tom the last few days and he regrets to inform us he has a prior commitment to attend in August so he won't be able to bring the 300's to Kalispell. I will endeavor to get some photos of the cars as he has invited my wife and I to drop in later this month. We plan on taking him up on his invite- I can't miss an opportunity like that! I have never met him but he sounds like quite the gentleman and I am really looking forward to meeting him and viewing the Letter cars and the 40 other cars he has. He stated that he will put at least one 300 event on his 2003 calendar. I will keep you posted! If he gives me the go ahead I will post photos, but only w/ his permission, as I respect people's right to privacy. Joe Pierce 300K, 300K cvt. and others....
