Hi All:
Michael's email regarding 300s on film reminded me some of you might be
interested in movies which included lettercars when they were new.  I only
know of three such films, but no doubt some of you can add to this list:
       1)  Imitation of Life with Lana Turner and Sandra Dee.  Can't remember
the male lead, but he drives a Tahitian Coral 300D convertible.  I liked the
movie too.  Just saw a notice in the paper it is now available on DVD.
       2)  The World, the Flesh, and the Devil.  Harry Belafonte, Inger
Stevens(I think) and Jose Ferrar.  Is about the only three people left in the
world.  Belefonte drives a 300D convert out of a Chrysler showroom thru the
front window he has just broken out.  Can't believe how long I looked for
this movie to be on TV so I could tape it!  Terry McTaggart had told me about
it years before I finally saw it.  I liked this movie too.  Can't tell the
300D color, because movie is B & W.
       3)  Bachelor in Paradise.  Bob Hope and somebody (Paula Prentiss?)
Anyway, lots of good shots of a 300G convert, Cinnimon or red--can't remember
which.  Also watch carefully when they show a shot of some freeway traffic.
There is a nice surprise for you!  This one probably is readily available to
rent.

I'll look forward to any additions to this list!!!!   300ly, Gil C.

I have one to add.I have never been able to tell if it is a letter car,
but there is a 1962 convertible Chrysler in the movie "It's a MAD, MAD,
MAD World."   It's a brief appearance.  Jerry Lewis is driving it down
the street and swerves to run over Spencer Tracy's hat and keeps going.
That's it.  But the film is a 3 hour car chase in with a lot of mopars
from that period, so worth viewing anyway.  It is one of our favorites.

Hi all,
The Crime Story - t.v. series I remember very well,
after seeing the first episode and the 300. I taped
alot of the shows, if not all, hoping to see more of the car and some chase scenes - I saw both !!!
The car was a black C convert. with red interior.

George

Hi Gloria!

Someone in the Chrysler 300 Club Int. Inc. owned the red 61 300-G hardtop
driven by Michelle Piefer in the movie "Love Fields". Tjink it was sold
later.

Paul and Group-
It was Sgt. Turello that drove a black 57 300C convertible. If you check
some video stores such as Sun Coast Video they have (sometimes) vcr tapes of
episodes of the series and if you are lucky you can find the pilot movie.
One of his fellow officers drove a 59 Desoto 4 dr. ht.The cars in the show
are all late 50's and early 60 vintage as the show was placed in the early
60's, first in Chicago then Las Vegas. The producer of the show took great
pains not to damage the C or the Desoto, however they trashed quite a few 59
Fords and late 50's Chevys and other GM's, which at first thought is great
fun, it is somewhat of a shame- after all they aren't getting any easier to
find parts for either!
To quote the jacket on the pilot movie vcr-"hard hitting and fast-paced
action in an era when cars had fins, rock and roll was king and the good
guys always wore black."

The World, the Flesh, and the Devil is on Turner Classic movies
occasionally, I tried to tape it once but Turner must do something to
scramble the signal(I am no electronic engineer)as all I got on the tape was
a very scrambled snowy picture-so much so you could not make out what was on
it. Thought I would let everyone know who wants to see the car(or the movie)
to watch for it on that venue.

I'm trying to figure out my weird gauge problem.  My c300 was rewired to 12
volts.  The gas and temp gauges only work if the door is closed (interior
lights off) and the map light is on.  Open either door and the gauges go
dead.  Everyone I've talked to says its a ground problem.  To make a long
story short, I'm thinking of taking the "gauge power" wire and going right
to the ignition switch, rather than trying to figure out the rats nest of
wires.  Do the gas and temp gauges care if its 12 volts?  I have no idea at
this point if they are getting 12 volts when they do work.  I still do not
have a manual (one is coming) but it may not be that helpful since the car
is re-wired.

The black 1957 300C used in Crime Story is owned by L. Andrew Jugle and
who is a member of our club.  Matt, my husband, used the car for a
Travel Channel television show, called T.V Roadtrip, highlighting the
Crime Story show in Chicago.  That particular episode of T.V Roadtrip
will be on in April or May.  We will give the club the exact air date
later.

Hello!
I just aquired a 300C and it has a reverse rake stance.  I am
going to have the torsion bars adjusted to lower the front end to
hopefully make the pitch look even.  My concern is that if this doesen't
rectify the situation, does anyone recommend purchasing the new Eaton
springs package through the club to replace the rear springs?  How many
leaves should the rear springs on the 300C possess?  I count 6 on mine.
Thoughts and recommendations will be seriously considered and welcomed.
Thanks.  Rob Kern

Hello!
I need to replace if I can not repair the driver's door vent
window frame and assembly on my 300C.  The junction of the straight part
of the vent frame which also serves as the window channel has separated
from the grooved upper portion of the frame. Things are nice and rigid
with the side window fully raised but are rather loose when the window is
lowered and quite a cacaphony of sound is raised when the door is shut
with the side window down.  Help! Can someone lend advise for repair or
does anyone have a driver's door vent window frame and assembly for sale?

Dave Clelland and everyone else,

Although not a very good movie, "Bachelor In Paradise", a 1961 movie starring Bob Hope and I believe Lana Turner has a couple shots of a red 300 G convert. driven by Bob Hope's shapely blonde neighbor.

Although not a 300, "Hollywood or Bust", a 1956 Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movie, has extensive shots of a beautiful 1956 Chrysler New Yorker convert. that they win in a contest and drive cross country.
