Inner panels are on. You can see the bolts sticking up. It is at the 4
o'clock position. Maybe an aftermarket add on.
What are those panels worth anyways? I could use a pair. Anyone?

Hi Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Tom White in Hopkinton MA. He now has the only running 58 FI car in existence! When last reported the system was working on the bench. It's now running in the car! The idle, cold start, high idle, and run systems are all functioning, and the car has moved under it's own power in and out of his garage. Bad weather in New England has prevented a real test drive. It will make it's debut at the Emelia Island Concours next month in Florida. A super effort by a guy who doesn't know the meaning of "it can't be done"!

300ly,
    Don

Gary Goers lists fiberglass repros in his catalog.  P/n 522 on page 28 for $200.00 a set.  I have never seen a set of his but they are probably quite nice.

Alright all,
I have tried everything  to clean the rotor and the dual points(which
are new)
and still the car only cranks.Question the motor when it does crank, it
cranks
like it is under a strain, It has a Brand new battery (bought 2 days
ago) and
a good alternater, could it be the Starter,it is the original one?
Thanks to all,
Phil

Hi all,

Every day or so I search ebay for items that are specific to my Letter Cars.
The one listed below by George is one that would be tough to find and a very
rare item.

This does not show up in: 60 Chrysler, 61 Chrysler, Chrysler 300, 300F,
300G, 300 F, 300 G, and on and on. If you are familiar with the Seller,
which some apparently are, you could keep an eye out for their listings.

A few weeks ago it was requested that ebay Auctions not be listed on this
group. While I agree that most auctions can be searched out quite easily,
there are exceptions like this one for the inner fender panels.

This item was not listed so as to be found very easily. It was great, for
me, to see the ebay link listed here. Maybe I'm just jealous because I need
a pair of these for my "G" but unfortunately a couple of other bidders need
them worse than me. My restoration budget, for now, is used up.

I'm not tying to stir things up with this so please don't send a bunch of
replies on my behalf. I'm fairly new at this group and maybe this has been
hashed over before.

>>Phil,

This type of problem is usually due to a high resistance in the circuit or
a bad starter motor.  The resistance is the cheaper and easier to deal
with.  I would remove and check all battery leads to be sure they are clean
and then tightly fastened.  This means the positive battery lead on both
the battery and the solenoid end, the lead going from the solenoid to the
starter, both ends.  The ground wire, battery end and engine block end.  I
would remove the ground wire from the engine block and clean the block
surface and the terminal before re-tightening it.   Look inside the wire
side of the terminals for all battery, ground and solenoid leads to make
sure that years of vibration haven't caused a significant number of strands
to break. If there are any home made connections like those clamp on
battery terminals, I would replace them or at least cut them off and redo
the connection.  If any of the wires are green inside, probably best to
replace them as well.

A quick and dirty test of the solenoid is to use a jumper cable and jump
from the battery positive to the starter side of the solenoid.  This should
not be done often, as it can really mess up the threads on the solenoid
when the spark occurs, but it should spin the starter pretty well if the
rest of the circuit is good.  If it does, but the starter is slow using the
key to turn it over, it might indicate a bad solenoid.

On the distributor.  If you have a multimeter, you can disconnect the wire
leading from the negative coil terminal to the distributor and check the
reading with the multimeter while cranking the engine.  The distributor
lead should go to one of the multimeter leads and the other meter lead
should make contact with ground on the engine block.  The meter should be
on the lowest Ohms setting.  As the engine cranks, if the meter shows
alternating 0 ohms and then infinity, chances are everything inside the
distributor is good enough to at least start the engine.  Make sure the
lead is disconnected from the coil before you try this or you could damage
the circuit on the meter.  Using the same meter, make sure there is voltage
going to the positive side of the coil when the key is in the run
position.  Make sure the voltage is still there while cranking, as it is a
different circuit while cranking, that cuts out the ballast resister.

Hope this helps.

Be sure that all your battery cable connections are tight &clean and the
cables themselves are in good condition, not rotted away internally. If the
timing is too far advanced it will "hold back" and crank slow, you can
check that by pulling the coil wire and cranking it. You might also check
the starter solenoid, mounted on the fender panel to make sure it will pass
enough current. If nothing shows up you may as well pull the starter and
rebuild it , it probably is due for new brushes and a good cleaning anyway.

NO, NO, NO, THIS HOLE IS A ROUND HOLE. IT IS NOT THE ACCESS PANEL. IT LOOKS
TO BE 4 TO 5 INCHES IN DIAMETER. I DO NOT EVER REMEMBER SEEING A HOLE LIKE
THIS. WAS IT PUT THERE FOR AIR INDUCTION? JUST SEEMS ODD.

CHARLIE VALENTINE

I just returned from the Atlantic City car auction and a black 300G
Convertible sold for 51,000. I  was not able to get any info on the car or
its past or luckiest owner.

This sounds like the hole on my H.? It's on the rear side of the right inner
fender.? It's 4" in diameter if I remember and covered completely with
undercoating.? It's used as the access panel for the antenna.
