I'll second the motion, anybody else?

I for one miss the "eBay Highlights".  Quite frankly, if I could trade
numerous weather reports spewed forth here for the "eBay Highlights" I
would.  But, this list is only what we make of it, and my trusty DELETE
key still works quite well for things I don't care to read.  <grin>

Hi all,

Every day or so I search ebay for items that are specific to my Letter
Cars.
The one listed below by George is one that would be tough to find and a
very
rare item.

This does not show up in: 60 Chrysler, 61 Chrysler, Chrysler 300, 300F,

300G, 300 F, 300 G, and on and on. If you are familiar with the Seller,

which some apparently are, you could keep an eye out for their
listings.

A few weeks ago it was requested that ebay Auctions not be listed on
this
group. While I agree that most auctions can be searched out quite
easily,
there are exceptions like this one for the inner fender panels.

This item was not listed so as to be found very easily. It was great,
for
me, to see the ebay link listed here. Maybe I'm just jealous because I
need
a pair of these for my "G" but unfortunately a couple of other bidders
need
them worse than me. My restoration budget, for now, is used up.

I'm not tying to stir things up with this so please don't send a bunch
of
replies on my behalf. I'm fairly new at this group and maybe this has
been
hashed over before.

Subject: Serendipity and fuel injection.

So I'm looking around this morning at 5:30 AM for things to sell at
DuPage Fairgrounds Plastic Kit Model Show.  "Aha!", I say to
myself,"..how about those boxes of Pop Sci and Pop Mechanix and
stuff!!"  So I grab a box, and I'm off to peddle more junk.

As I load up table I observe that all the tags for articles are
Chrysler related.  I then realize this was a box I had tagged for
saving...about 15 years ago!

March, 1957 issue, Popular Science, page 88 to 93, "How good is fuel
injection".  Discusses what it is, shows pictures of different
systems, GM, etc. and RAMBLER with big Bendix logo on it.  Text has
several paragraphs on Bendix and test driving Chryslers with units.
First transisterized application for automobiles, is Bendix claim. I
seem remember McCahill talking about 300C at Speed weeks with
injection unit in 1957, that car burned out clutch and didn't run
in "Experimental" class. Will have to find THAT article, too.

This issue of Pop Sci also has full page 300C ad (Convert on beach,
B&W) and article on "Are we running out of oil?".

I decided not to sell box.

I totally agree on seeing the E-Bay listings pertaining to letter cars.
I read the list every day and have found much of value including Ebay items.
I for one do not have time to sit and play looking for auctions and those
that shared were very helpful. The delete key for the items I am not
intrested in works well.  Just my opinion as a Member trying to restore two
300 letter cars and still kork for a living.  Ray Menzel

THere are several of us who in the past have posted E-bay items here.
As far as I recall none of those postings were by the sellers but by someone
who "discovered" these on E-bay.
We ended up admonished for our "actions". Perchance a discussion on this topic
could see a refinement of this "Policy"!

Just found Popular Science, February, 1958 with huge close-up pic of
F.I. unit on their test car. (...with F.I. badges on car.)

Did they all come with chrome valve covers? The top fuel line fitting
must miss the under side of hood by eensy-weensy inches!!

I also agree that the e-bay notices are helpful. I frequently check the
"Chrysler 300" listings, but it may be a week between checks. I have
enjoyed some "finds" on this list, and don't see the harm. This is,
after all, an entertainment AND information format. As long as it
dosen't lead to a listing of all 300+ auctions each day!

WE can hash this out at the business meeting in June at the spring meet.

Subject: eBay Notifications - sample stats

There are currently  258  "Chrysler 300" auctions listed on ebay alone.
----as example:
There are 81 "1956 Chrysler" items
There are 37 "56 Chrysler" items
There are 30 "1956 mopar" items
There are 19 "56 mopar" items......

Among the 400(?) 300 Club list server members, "official" encouragement
would maybe/probably produce more friendly heads-up notices than we could
stomach...even those of us who live for old car e-mails at work - and those
familiar with the delete button.

Ebay (and other auction sites) offer e-mail notifications to us whenever
someone lists something of specified interest. I'm pretty sure its a free
(lovely word) service. You just sign yourself-up with various search keys.

Items can definitely be listed strangely.. I bought a F/G/H full-length
console for peanuts because it was listed as a "62crsler consul". Items like
that make grrreat 300 Club e-mail notifications - as do pre-ebay-listing
notices from Club members. Kinda gives us a leg-up on the rest of the world.

Perhaps our Club website could also have a self-clearing "Links" page that
received ebay updates. This way (after a bit of set-up effort) those seeking
piecesparts could see a quick summary?     Might also help keep Bob off his
icy roof.

Yeah, but I think people would use their discretion before posting *every* 300-
related item on the listserver. An item that was 300-only, including a whole
car, may be worth posting, IMHO. For example, an original 300C grill would be
OK, whereas NOS Spark Plugs would not.

My 2 cents.

This message is from the Electronic Communications Committee.

Posts regarding ebay auctions are no longer prohibited.

However, we encourage you to think twice before posting an ebay message.
As Mike Vath pointed out, there are presently 258 ebay items related to
300s.
In an average month last year, the list server passed 242 messages.
That 242 number was without ebay messages.

The ECC is hoping the quantity of ebay messages can be kept in check by the
good sense of the members.
Think twice before posting.

yep, she's snowing like a bear again.

Seems I pulled a little "open Mouth, insert Foot" the other day.
In so doing I made several efforts to locate something for someone and
in the process "Found" several items that I had been half heartedly
looking for in amongst all my crates and boxes of 300 parts for some time.

One of those items I re-located is a set of "Creitz" oval aluminum air
filter plates that fits the Mopar oval airfilters and the WCFB carbs.
Perchance IF anyone spots a set of these at any swap meet and they them
selves are not interested in them I sure would love to know who to talk
to about buying a second set of these items.
I can forward pictures of what I have if anyone is interested.

I did see 2 pair of these things on a venders manifold setup a year or
so ago but his asking $$$ for just the "Creitz" pieces was major buckaroos
so I had to pass. (especially when you see how simple these things are)
Anyone with a CNC milling machine could crank out very nice copies in a
short time. I believe that these were made in the early 60's.

Should you be tempted by a seller of mostly Mopar stuff named BAYCLASSICS,
ask me first.

I also stumbled over a Mopar SONO-4X NOS muffler still in its slightly
ratty box. I had thought I had sold this to someone. IF anyone remembers
exchanging some e-mails with me and was interested in this and is still
interested in a Genuine NOS Mopar SONO-4X muffler I still am interested in
selling it.
