Is this sticker reporduced? It is red print. Before I remove it I would like to know if others have it since it might tear. What I can see reads as follows: JACKING INSTRUCTIONS for "SURE-GRIP" DIFFERENTIAL When one rear wheel is raised off the ground??????????? ???????off?????????????? wheel?????????????????? opposite wheel blocked??? ward and backward motion Marv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 3 Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2003 16:14:04 -0500 From: "Park Waldrop" <pwald@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: '57 300C - rear spring leaves no? & brake fade Chris et al, There may indeed have been a problem with the rear springs. In May '58 I bought a nice C300 from the original selling dealer in Wichita, with about 55,000 miles on it (original owner was a salesman!). A year later, now with about 70,000 miles on it, I noticed a couple of broken rear leaves, and upon investigation found two bad ones on each side. As far as I know the car was never abused, so there may have been a problem with the leaves being a bit too brittle. There are companies here in the USA that sell bolt on kits and your 300 can be returned to stock at your pleasure. I seem to remember reading that there were "Kit cars" assembled in LA that were export vehicles. Some had the "Chrysler" logo on lower right trunk, and had bolted front clips on Windsor bodies. They might have had the springs, too. About twenty- five years ago I shipped a grill to a guy in Thailand for a C. That car was an export 300 and had weirdities, also. Might measure diameters on torsion bars and see if U.S. spec. There were 10 exported convertibles and I can't remember how many coupes (90 ???). 1957 was a tough year as 300 bodies were about the only ones that fit!!! L. Keep in mind that the car was taken to a bare shell. I have just installed the radiator and was attaching the transmission cooling lines which are brand new stainlenss steel. I can't tell which line goes on the top (pressure, I think) fitting on the transmission and which goes on the bottom fitting of the transmission. Which fiiting on the transmission does the line from the left side of the radiator go to? Perhaps it does not matter. After forgetting to install the lines BEFORE the exhaust cross over pipe was installed, I had to tweak the lines slightly to install them. Hence, I cannot tell definitevely which goes where? HE WILL NOT DUPLICATE A TAG UNLESS HE RECEIVES PROOF OF OWNERSHIP. THAT PROOF WAS A PHOTO OF THE "KIEKHAEFER" 300 B DRIVEN BY BUCK BAKER. I HAVE THE SAME DIECAST & DESCRIBED IT TO HIM IN EVERY DETAIL. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE IS TRYING TO CAPITALIZE ON THIS CAR'S REPUTATION. WAYNE, YOU'RE RIGHT! CHECK OUT THE VIN &/OR TRIM TAGS & I'LL BET ONE OR THE OTHER IS REPRODUCED IN THE "FORD" FONT. THE 300B WAS DRIVEN BY BUCK BAKER. WAS TIM FLOCK THE OWNER? MY COMPUTER DIED A WEEK BACK & I'M NOT TIED INTO THE 300 GROUP YET. WOULD YOU KINDLY FORWARD THIS FOR ME. Hi list, My local parts guy only has a listing back to 58 for the sector shaft seal on the power steering box. Is that the year of a change from 'coaxial' to 'gear and sector'? I need the lower seal on my 57, and don't know if the 58 part will fit. If someone knows the answer, or better yet, a part number for 57, please let me know. Thanks, John ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 9 Date: Mon, 17 Mar 2003 13:37:45 EST From: Redwoodlse@xxxxxxx Subject: Engine Leads 354 and 392 Usual reliable source tells me that Gary Ball in Indiana has both a 354 and a 392 engine he'd like to sell.
