Hi Tim, Owen Grigg suggested that I contact you and see if you can help us owners of '59-'61 with Chrysler 413 wedge/cast iron 727 TF drive trains get high speed starter replacements. Also '55-'58 hemi drive trains. The '59-'61 set ups have longer drive shafts and cannot interchange with the available high speed starters that are compatible with the '62 and later aluminum TFs which fit the shortened drive shafts of the later 413s. I think Murray Park had told me 225 75 R 14, but when I told the Tires Plus guy, he looked at me like I had 2 heads. He offered a set of 215 75 14's with thin whitewalls. By the way I have 14 X 5.5 wheels, as Murray did not have enough 14 X 6 available just before the Columbus Nats. So, if the tires will fit the 5.5 inch rims, I will go for whatever the consensus is. Thanks Greg PS Does anyone have one of those old time Motorola "right angle" adapters for tight clearance radio antenna connections? I used to have a few when I installed car stereos and CB's back in the day, but cannot find them in Radio Shack or elsewhere now. The adapter would be Motorola plug to Motorola receptacle, either solid all metal, or pigtail would be cool too. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, SO, someone listed these things on e-bay the other week. Now I can say I have some 57 Imperial parts for sale, REAL reasonable concidering the condition they are in. They are nice, usable right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34204&it em=2429489403 the doodads I have are the items at the very top of the picture. I gots all 4 Plus one extra of the things that go behind the knobbers. Anyone interested now that we know what they fit?? I can Supply close up pictures of the items I have sitting here collecting dust when they are not being used for bells. -- Paul Holmgren Hoosier Corps #33, L-6 2 57 300-C's in Indy ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 4 Date: Fri, 5 Sep 2003 19:10:32 -0700 From: "Warren R Anderson" <wranderson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Tire size for 64 300K I went shopping for 225 radials a number of years ago and ended up with 215's. The 225 size was no longer in the Michelin catalog. The 14" wheel size is the problem as the 225-15R was and is a popular size (Buick Roadmaster, RWD Cadillacs and Chevy Caprice until they went out of production). I do not know if the availability situation is the same if a search is made for any other brand but it would make sense if the size did not show up anywhere else. BTW, the 215's have been just fine on the New Yorker although the 225 size would definately look better. Having been down the problem tire route so many times, I prefer to stay with what works every time for me and use Michelins whenever possible. I have had such good luck with Michelin that I always look at Michelin first, and if they don't build it, I go looking. My wife insists on Michelins. Eventually she'll tell me we need new tires, and we get them even though they still have what looks like good tread. When they get down to the last 20% or so of tread life, the compound changes and gets harder, thus loosing some "stickyness". She'll tell me they are starting to slip and it's time to replace........we replace. We always get great milage from them and have never been sorry we had them. Goodyears however we've hated.
