My apologies, but it was raining at 5:00 AM when I woke up, and it continued
to rain until about 1:00 PM.  It then resumed around 5:00 again for a while,
so I figured that we had simply avoided spending a day parked in the rain.
Additionally, it happened that yesterday's NASCAR race wa at Talladega, one of my
favorites.  Congratulations to the two Daves for finally driving their cars
somewhere, as opposed to trailering them, and in the rain, no less.  Sorry guys
- maybe next year, if they will accept my car again.

Pete

It is great to know all you "out of Staters", no matter where in the world
you live, and we're proud to have you in our little group.

I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but as I remember the "C" in
300C denoted Convertable. At that time, they said that they were only making
the Hemi in a convertable.

C/D has already extending the Letter Series with the 300M and soon the N.
Using the original Letter Series as background promotion from time to time.
And we all know they arn't close to the old "Brute" excitment! Still nice
cars though.

Subject: Mopar Turquoise Engine Paint

The California Chrysler Products Club had a show on Sunday and the subject of
the proper color for the engines was discussed.  Much talk about Plasticote
being the right color but having been discontinued.  Seems there was a thread
about this some weeks ago.  My question? who cares?  Chrysler still sells the
real stuff under Mopar Performance Engine Enamel Part number P4120752.
Probably available at your dealer but certainly available at Summit Racing for $7.95
a can.  Their Sept-Oct calalog asks $5.95 a can but they are charging $7.95 in
spite of the old price.  Still cheap enough and who can argue that Mopar
isn't the "keeper of the kolor"?
Since I was the emcee that awarded the trophies, I took my worst car so as
not to have to award myself a prize..........never-the-less the '66 300 rag
recently from Mena took first in 300s as there were no other entries.  Where were
the rest of you NorCalr's?

Hey, Larry-Lefty - the Mopar "turquoise" P4120752  is far from a good match
to the original turquoise. It looks pretty bad, actually . I obtained a can
recently, and ended up using it to paint my garage's floor jack, as the
color was just so far from original that I could not bear to use it on a car
! I guess my floor jack will never win top honors in Club concours, either.

My experiences with the MP engine paint has been very
poor. Seems that 1/4  of the cans don't even spray,
the paint is thun and has poor coverage, it burns off.

Hi,
I agree about changing out the whole disc with a photo of your choice. I was originally thinking that just the year was wrong for the car, but if you look close the 'unit body construction' ad is from American Motors. I wonder how the manufacturer of the clock got the detail messed up so bad.

Regard,

What an ignoramous you are, Bob Gelber!  As anyone who knows anything about lettercars knows, the highest prices are paid for the 1957 "C" through the 1961 "G." The C300 of 1955 is indeed a beautiful brute, but the "C", as the purest form of Virgil Exner's Forward Look, and the "F", as the wildest, are widely regarded as the ultimate 300's.

hey there 300 people
i've been looking at all the comments about the new 300C
i am the owner of a 300C convert and had the luck to see
the new 300c at the new york auto show this past spring.
i can understand the dismay of some regarding this car but
it seems the trend for the last several years has been for
"sports touring sedans" and the new 300 seems to fit the bill
in that respect.but as nice as it is it ain't no real 300.
but at least it has a hemi and a real good looking sedan.
i hope it his the streets the way i saw it at the show.
ALSO---what about camming a mini van a town & country????

You could be correct if you are satisfied with a Johnny Come Lately but if
you wish the original muscle car then you must turn to the 55 and 56  C 300
and 300 B and of course they were certainly the most elegant and beautiful
appearing automobile that the fifty's turned out.

Oh yes did anyone mention that the 300 B turned faster top speeds then the
57 and 58 at Daytona and the 55 and 56's set Grand National Records for wins
that Chrysler never again(or most other auto manufactures)ever achieved or
duplicated?

If you do not understand all of this then I would advise you to cease
sucking on your exhaust pipes while the motor is running and your fingers
are on your computer keyboard.

Thank you in advance for any comments, complaints or concerns.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Chrysler 300 lettercars

What an ignoramous you are, Bob Gelber!  As anyone who knows anything about
lettercars knows, the highest prices are paid for the 1957 "C" through the
1961 "G." The C300 of 1955 is indeed a beautiful brute, but the "C", as the
purest form of Virgil Exner's Forward Look, and the "F", as the wildest, are
widely regarded as the ultimate 300's.

Roger

300 B Calif.

Subject: e-Bay 300 parts

Dave

That's what we call free enterprise. Get what the market will bear. In some
cases that is good. You only buy what you need. They do not make these
parts anymore. If you need it you pay or do without. 5, 10, 20, years from
now these prices will look like giveaway. One thing, you do not have to bid
on them.

My 2 cents, Gary

Folks,
Recently, I've noticed an insidious little trend creeping in to
sales of some 300 used parts on e-Bay.
If any of you regularly check for 300 bits and pieces as I do, how about this?
Got an F or G console?  Well, don't sell it intact.....oh no....break it
down to 6 separate parts, including the hinge for the lid ! and the 2 ashtrays.
Wheelcovers similar. Sell off the stainless in one auction, and separately,
the centre.
Or a grille. Take it apart and sell the individual pieces. You make
more!  Apparently.
I don't think it's a good thing, greed seems to be taking over, more and more.
It makes owning a 300 letter car that needs parts almost an out of sight
ambition for new entrants in today's market.
My 2c worth......
            Dave.
