The cams he sells are not cataloged by either, but custom. I have had good luck with his older cams. When I was doing engine work for a Pro Truck at a local oval track, his cam had great torque coming off the corners and would pull strong to 7,000 rpm in a 360 small block. I would assume his new designs might be even better. The new Comp Cams Extreme Energy series is designed with similar philosophy and should be awsome with the .904 Chrysler lifters. 300ly Russ Vaughan jim nielsen <jnielsen1959@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: get in touch with ( hughs ) tell them engine size , car weight , tire size , gear ratio , and what you intend on doing . they will grind a cam to your way of driving . . . p.s. quick ramps are important for todays unleaded fuel and can create lots of new power you never expected .a friendly fan in your club . . . check it out ! >From: Russ Vaughan >Reply-To: pacesetter300@xxxxxxxxx >To: moparmike@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, smopar@xxxxxxxxxxxx >CC: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] rebuilding '64 413 motor >Date: Sat, 6 Dec 2003 08:00:35 -0800 (PST) > > >Hi Guys > >Somebody has to clue me in as to which Mopar Performance cam they consider a "purple cam" . The MP cam I've used the most is the "resto" cam 268/284, either one or three bolt. All that I recall have had a spray of purple paint on them. The other "common" MP cam is the 292 - 509, I've heard some refer to as a "purple" cam too. Ditto the "Hemi" grind 284 - 484 cam. I guess I've always heard of the "purple cam" referred to as any Mopar Performance cam differentiating it from a Comp Cams, Crane, Isky, etc. What's going on that I need to change planets?? > >300ly > >Russ Vaughan > > > > > >[Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > --------------------------------- Tired of slow downloads and busy signals? Everyone I've heard from is totally pleased with the quality of his lenses. Last I heard he was also working on finishing the back up and tail lenses for the '57 so may also have those available by now. Check with him. I stopped to see him just this past week and he did show me some as well as the courtesy lamp lenses and the quality is excellent. If I could, I'd remove one of the current tires and measure the width of the originals but I don't really want to spend that much time and effort if I can get a reply from one of you. Once again, I'm wanting to replace the old wire wheels with newer ones but need to know the proper width which I believe is somewhere between 5 and 6 inches. I'd really appreciate a response with the proper info. Also, if anyone is interested in the current original wheels, I'll be publishing pics on my Yahoo webspace later this afternoon so once I've done that I'll send the website address to this site. Hi group, Not 300 but nearly! I need to pull the engine out of my NY'er. Been thru' the service manual, but not the answers I'm looking for. Can I pull the engine and leave the a/c system intact? It is still full of R12 and I don't want to lose it if possible. Anyone successfully done this, please? Thanks............. Dave in New Zealand.
