I did find a neat VIN decoder that covers the upper end of our letter series cars. See: http://www.moparpages.com/vin/ It doesn't validate against anything, but you can quickly plug in a serial number for 1962 - 1980 and get a decode. Just for jun I plugged in YM43R0B127690 and it decoded to a 1970 Crown Imperial 4 door Hardtop with a 426 Hemi that rolled of the Hamtramck assemply line. Now, I'm not sure where Imperials were coming from in '70, but I'm sure nobody got one for the factory with a Hemi! teehee..... Our best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year! In '68 through '70 the Road Runner was equipped with the 383 HP as standard - except the '70 Superbird which had the 440 HP 4V as standard. Optional in '68 was only the Hemi, in '69 Hemi again until 1/2 year model and the addition of the 440 6-pack made three options. Same for '70 with some changes in the engines. Most notably cast iron intake on the 6-pack instead of the Edelbrock aluminum, vacuum actuation on the end carbs of the 6-pack instead of mechanical linkage and hydraulic lifters on the Hemi. The 375 HP 440 was only available on the GTX in '68 and '69 and then the Superbird and GTX in '70. SO, strictly talking Plymouth, if you want a 440 HP (L?) and you want it in a '69, you need to look for a GTX. Does this mean they absolutely never made a 440 4V RR in '69? I've learned never to say never with Chrysler, but it wasn't a standard production option in any information I have. Hope this helps Russ Vaughan Val Jeffers <edward1108@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: With this being a "non 300 question" please don't chastise me too badly. The car is all there but needs a total resto. It has the 325 hemi (not running) Some body rust and the floors are bad. I can't find much info on the D 500 production, other than it was said to be approximately around 5%?? All the trim is there. Any help on the production numbers and value would be appreciated. I would not consider a restoration if it wasn't a D 500. I don't remember ever seeing one. Thanks for your help. I would love to find a wagon like this! First Dodge with the rear facing rear seat, D-500 option, Forward Look car, fins, torsion bars, etc.etc......"All of the 57 Dodges with three seats featured a rear facing third seat called a "Spectator" seat." (from page 184 The Dodge Story, Thomas McPherson, copyright 1975) 34,2110 four door station wagons built. On page 218 of standard catalog of Chrysler, 1914-2000, second edition, list that 500 Dodge D-500 models were scheduled. Apprx. 101 cars were fitted with the D-501 engine option as well. Is the car a single or dual 4bbl.? Both were 325 cid, one 4bbl was the D-500, dual 4's was the Super D-500. D-501 was a 354 w/dual 4's. How rare today? I'd say very, as most wagons were not saved or at best used to fix sweptside pick-ups, converts, hardtops, etc, so few were saved just because they were wagons. Until about 5-10 years ago, few cared, now wagons are becoming very popular. Value? If you believe Old Car Price Guide, everything is valuable, from my experience in my area of the U.S. it is 35-60% high, depending on the car. OCPG lists the 57 9 pass. wagon at in condition 5 at $1944.00 plus 30% for D-500 option, About $2525.00. IssueFeb.2004,volume 27, No.1. Consider the difficulty in finding station wagon specific parts, labor, shipping etc. and into that how bad do you want it and your financial resources. I find it hard at times to think with my head and bank account in mind instead of my heart..... Go for it if you can get it reasonable! Quite a rare piece of Mopar history. Keep me posted, I am really interested in how you come out, if you get it etc. Joe Pierce 300J(parts)Kx3+M+the "one of none"64 300 9pass.wagon(in progress) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jay R" <robodoc57@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 25, 2003 10:42 PM Subject: [Chrysler300] 57 Wagon D500 9 pass > Merry Christmass to all, > I am considering the purchase of a 1957 Dodge Wagon D 500 Spectator > Edition.
