Hi Tom, (and Ulf Larsson, too) Please be aware of following : 1/ 1960, 1961 and 1962 Chryslers (300, Newport, NewYorker and Saratoga) all used the SAME a/c system, from the firewall back. That includes the evaporator box mounted to firewall in engine compartment. Therefore, if you find a '61 or '62 a/c donor car, you can at least get all that stuff out of it, namely: evaporator; complete dashboard with louvers, all ducts, a/c controls, and the mixing box mounted to firewall INSIDE the car. 2/ For a 1960 300F, you will also need to find the rest of the stuff (from evaporator forward) out of a a/c 1960 Chrysler , or out a 1960 Imperial . Only those specific two have the correct components, with the early-style big-clutch compressor, and with the receiver-dryer mounted on the PASSENGER side of the radiator support. Yes, the '60 Imperial has the exact same stuff as the '60 Chrysler. Considering how hard it currently is to find ANY 1960 Chrysler with a/c in a salvage yard, and with the a/c setup all intact, I'd say that your only option (unless you get real lucky) is to do it as described above - get the evaporator and everything in back of it from a '61 or '62 , and then get everything in front of the evaporator from a 1960 Imperial. If you look at a '61 engine compartment (such as http://www.crossrams.com/golden/pix/cwdata/engcptleft.html ) you will see the difference between that, with receiver-dryer mounted on driver's side and small-clutch type RV2 compressor ) and the '60 engine compartment (such as: http://www.crossrams.com/albu/enginecpt/cwdata/107.html ) with receiver-dryer on passenger side, and large clutch on early RV2 a/c compressor. A good source for the Imperial stuff would be Lowell Howe in CA - he's listed in Bob Merritt's "sources" page, accessible from the Club's web site. Tom, you will also need to get the following: 1/ a/c radiator 1903358 2/ right angle thermostat housing 3/ fan shroud for radiator 4/ clutch-type fan if not already equipped 5/ a set of a/c pulley and brackets (crankshaft, water pump, idler pulleys are all different on a/c cars) 6/ double-pulley for your generator, or, even better, a correct a/c generator 7/ a/c wiring harness (Greg Leggatt can supply a new one) and a/c resistor. 8/ complete set of a/c belts I hope this helps, John Hertog Sag Harbor NY To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm Yahoo!
