RE: [Chrysler300] wanted for 62 chrysler

Fern and Jeff and Bill, I went to Stockton Wheel today and talked with
Bob(209-464-7771). For the 15x6 wheels the list price is $90 if you furnish
the centers (the 12-5/8" diameter center section with the bolt holes and
clips) and $135 if they find and furnish the centers. Finding the correct
centers could take a couple of months. They have other cheaper options if
you don't care about using the correct centers with the clips and small
holes. Perhaps someone in the club would know if centers from other, more
common wheels would be the same as those on the G & H. Bill, for your
14x6-1/2 wheel all of the above applies plus an additional charge for
cutting down their 7" outer wheel to 6-1/2".

OK Doug, the fellow that I spoke to out there was Bob. For that kind of
money, I wonder as to how close they are to the originals. Will the 6 inch
wide wheels allow enough room if one wanted to put disk brakes in the front?
I supposed to go away tomorrow morning fairly early to take all (or most
of my chrome) and stainless to get done. I likely won't be back till
sometimes on thursday afternoon or evening. I've got my fingers crossed as
the weather man is predicting some cold weather with possibility of snow and
hail this evening ( I sure hope that he's wrong). Fern

Hi Fern, I will take my H spare to Stockton Wheel tomorrow and compare it
with the wheels they are offering you. Could you let me know who you talked
to so I can contact the same person. Doug

HI Doug:
I phoned them this afternoon and Bob quoted me $135 per wheel but after
talking to him for a few minutes and him asking me what car it was for, he
came down to $120/wheel which is still on the steep side but then looking at
sand blasting some old rusty wheel, this is probably the better way to go. I
told him that I had paid less than that for brand new magnum 500's for my
300L a few years ago.
If it's not to much trouble, could you please have a look at those
wheels for me before I commit myself to spending that kind of money. I want
to use the original hubcaps on the 300H as magnum 500's would really be all
wrong and look too tacky for that car.
I have finally picked the color for the car which is called "silver
lilac" 21966 and codes RR-1. It should go very well with the black leather
interior. That's right out of the 1962 chrysler and imperial ditzler paint
code charts.
I just got off the phone with George Reihl in Michigan to get the
correct original tranny rebuilt to specs. His labour rates are quite
reasonable as it ranges between $350-500.00 on the aluminum 727 but the
freight from zip 83835 in northern Idaho to him in MIchigan is a real
killer. He described to me as to how he balances those 413 engines to within
2.5 grams so they can really churn the rpm's and hp. It too bad that he's so
far away from me or I would take the engine to him as well but I will likely
take the necessary parts to an engine balancing shop in Calgary Alberta and
get it all re-assembled by my machinist at the local Napa shop.
    Must run for now. Fern

Fern, try Stockton Wheel in Stockton CA. 209-464-7771. I think the size is
15"x6". I work in Stockton and would be happy to check them out for you.

Does anyone have a source or know of where I could get the correct seat
belts for a 62 300H chrysler?
Also is there a source of correct 15 inch steel wheel for one of these
beasts?
    Thanks from Fern
