Seems like I have read numerous recommendations that old true magnesium wheels should not be run on the street because at their age they have inevitably become brittle and are very prone to crack. Although today's Halibrand is not the original company that produced the wheels really made from magnesium, I would hope they would be willing to answer a question like that. One of my references on this subject is the Studebaker group. Halibrand made a custom designed wheel that Stude offered as a factory option on the '64 Avanti. I always wanted a set until I read Stude guys talking that those wheels never again should go on the street unless Halibrand will tool up and make some new ones. Original wheels for show car trailer queens only. I was on the Power Tour last year for first time and hope to make it again this year.
