I remember when you suggested using plot cut vinyl for appliques, (stick 
on). I said then I would take up the challenge and made a mask set for C as 
I am still restoring one.
You are correct. You could reverse the process and apply the vinyl in the 
windows around the cap and in center ring. Three reasons I would not. 1) 
not original 2) up close you could see they where stick on and not paint. 
3) Do not think you could get exact colors in vinyl compared paint. In the 
photos where I show the application and end result, I used black in the 
windows for contrast to show the crisp paint line that can be achieved with 
mask set. C is silver windows an D are red. You had a good idea.

On a final note, Bob Merritt up dated the club site with my new parts list. 
Go to classified then "Parts for Sale"
keep scrolling down past photos to end to see list. There are now over 40 
items w/ costs that apply to most 300's and many other Mopar models.
