Just a little update on the carb springs. I did modify the Home Depot
springs to duplicate the 300F-H units. Upon closer examination, the spring rate
seems a little higher than the stock spring---if that is what I have one of.
However, full throttle opening is quite easily accomplished on the "F". A word
of caution, however. I used the acetylene torch to assist in the modification,
so don't know the ramifications of the changes in metallurgy. A broken
spring during driving could be a bit bothersome----to say the least! I am not
ready to drive the "F" yet, but will look forward to Jeff Carter getting in his
properly heat treated repro springs. Mine sure do look nice, though!
300ly, Gil
