[Chrysler300] Pushbutton shifter

I am in the process of installing my pushbutton shifter on my 57 300C and
find that that the shift cable will not move the shift mechanism on the
tranny. It only moves about 1/8 inch within the cable sheath but it will not
shift the tranny into different gears. I have tried to move the cable in and
out without the pushbutton shifter attached and it is the same
situation...... Any suggestions will be appreciated.
