I don't have any particular opinion on which "looks" best on a black car, although Chrysler maintained the monotone philosophy on the hardtop 300s. I can, however, tell you how to determine which color top your car originally came with. On the code plate there will be either a 6 or a 7 following the BB for paint color. A 6 means a black top and a 7 means it originally had a white top. In all cases, the tops were vinyl. This code plate top color identification was apparently only done in 1962, as far as I can determine. For Bob J's question, the 300G was also only available with a choice of black and white convertible tops. Hope this is of help. 300ly, Gil C.
