Howdy,
The RB blocks can be primed in that manner. The geared shaft going to the
pump must be pulled after the distributor is pulled out. I would put the
engine on TDC, align the shaft and the distributor and note the slot
alignment in the shaft and the rotor position before starting to facilitate
re assembly. Then all it takes is a hex shaft (I put a little shrink wrap
on it to protect the bushing). It must turn CCW. I always use a 1/2"
drill, since a 3/8" doesn't seem to have the oomph necessary to make oil
pressure.
