While shopping for 8.00-15; 3" bias-ply WWW's for my 1955 C-300, I ran across a site that might be interesting to those of you with needs, curiousity or concerns over vintage tires. For a legal document, it reads pretty clearly and explains a lot about the market situation with vintage tires. See: http://lw.bna.com/lw/19980421/9556706.htm It is probably not the end of that story and lawsuit as the end result was to remand the case to a lower court for further action. BTW, I found that Lucas Automotive in Long Beach (800-952-4333) (and Springfield, Ohio-800-735-0166) is a dealer for General Dual Ninetys in 8.00-15, 3" WWW, 4-ply polyester tubeless and act as a distributor for Kelsey Tire. Lucas does not have a website, but confirmed the Generals would be available in Mid-October at $110/pop. Kelsey does not show this tire at their website, but e-mailed me the information. See: http://www.kelseytire.com/ Coker offers their own branded tire in the same configuration for $122 at: http://www.coker.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16166&cat=&page=1 Interestingly enough, I also found out that Goodyear is producing vintage Blue Streaks in 8.00-15, but they are now racing tires designed for 10" wide rims. I don't mean to pull scabs off of old history and start a rant on tires, just thought some of you might find this information of interest. My C-300 now rides on a 15-year old set of Remington L78-15's with 3" WWW's, 15 years old and 400 miles on them. They look great on my recently-acquired wire wheels, but any new "proper" tires will go back on the stamped steel original wheels (that the car was originally equipped with) after I have them stripped, inspected and painted or powder-coated. I do need one wheel cover center for that set if anyone has one they would part with. Rich Barber Brentwood 94513 C-300 ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo!
