The story could be true but that doesn't mean that they would be correct 
for a regular 300 L that is not an export model.  Did he label them as 
being from a special export model?  Chrysler and other auto makers did some 
really strange things with export models but that does not makes those 
weird options, trim etc. correct for our USA market cars.

One thing for sure I think the seller is a good sales person.  I guess 
according to him if his export car had Newport hubcaps all Newport hubcaps 
now become 300L hubcaps and are worth more.  I bet he does marketing for a 
living and is good at it.  Most MOPAR wheel covers have a part number on 
them so it should be pretty easy to ID the proper wheel cover for a 300L by 
the Chrysler part number.  If it doesn't match it is wrong.
