Re: [Chrysler300] Wheels & Tires

Hi all:

I was unaware that 6 years was the magic number for tires but from my
experience, I tend to agree that it would be very prudent to adhere to this figure
if one plans to drive at highway speeds. I had tires on my '66 300 conv. that
were about 10 years old and less than 15,000 miles on them. About 2 years
ago, 2 of them, at different times, shredded on the freeway. Because of the
weight of the car, I did not feel them until the shredding was almost to the rim
when the long strands started to hit the wheel well. No other warning.

I buy Tiger Paws with the extra load rating. Two years ago I paid $50 each
for them. I do not need 120 mph ratings. I will change them out in 6 years.
This represents an insurance policy of about $50 per year. Kinda cheap I'd
say. And on the '66, I will have put probably only 1000 miles on the tires.
Seems like a waste but then the car is worth a bit of change.
