RE: [Chrysler300] 300G Ball and Trunion Conversion

Bob:

Sean Duggan in the club already did one on his ?62 300 ?Sport?.

I am not sure exactly which U-joint he chose to accomplish this conversion
but I can try to contact Sean for you to find out.

Since my ?62 300 is also a ?Sport?, I am planning on doing exactly the same
conversion.

Good Luck,

John Mc Adams

I just had my G up on the hoist to do an inspection of the trans to try to

determine wear a leak was coming from, and I noticed my rubber front ball

and trunion joint cover was toast. I just replaced this 5 years ago and it

probably doesn't have 2500 miles on it. I am fed up with this type of

U-joint and would like to convert it to a traditional type of joint. I

looked on the 300 website and could not find any reference to a conversion

article as such.

Has anyone converted their 300 to a standard U-joint? I suspect that it is

possible, because there is coverage of this type of conversion on the Early

Barracuda website for the '64-'65 cars, which use the same type of joint.

http://www.earlycuda.org/tech/ujoint.htm

This may make for a good tech article.

300G convert with yet another bad rubber boot...enough already!
