Hi Gang, I need to take a poll of how many of you would be interested in renting new 300's for the Spring meet in Detroit. I know it is still 4 months away so please answer with one of the three numbers below that best describes your situation: 1) Might be interested, but way too early to tell 2) Pretty sure I'd be interested 3) Absolutely want to do it OK folks, I'd like some idea of how many people might be interested, so you'll probably want to respond to me off this list. Don't forget to tell those members who aren't on the list and let me know what they think, too!! In this area, Thrifty rental car seems to be the most cooperative. I went to visit the local manager yesterday at lunch and told him of our special 50th Anniversay meet and how it would be really fun to have a small fleet of 300's available for out of town guests. He was eager to cooperate and is willing to guarantee a certain number of 300's. Just for a reference, their max price is about $71 per day including taxes for the 300 Touring, less for other cars. He even hinted that if we get enough people to sign up, he might do a little better on the price. He's going to do some checking on what that number is. Now we're not talking about 300C's with hemis. There are no rental fleets with those. They offer 300 Touring with the 3.5 liter V6 (hey 250 horsepower ain't bad!) and also the base 300 with the 2.7 liter (better than a Neon!). If he can't supply enough 300's, he will have some other specialty cars like PT Cruiser convertibles and Dodge Magnums. I imagine it would be a first come, first served as far as which car you get, but you would be renting it completely on your own, so the club is not really providing anything but the coordination. Since we're still 4 months away, I will send out reminders to people as the date draws nearer. But we would need final numbers 4 weeks before the show, to give the company time to assemble our fleet. 300'ly Gary Runkel Canton, MI P.S. Side note to Larry Jett and anyone else who may have already reserved a car. Dollar Car Rental has some sort of cooperative agreement with Thrifty in this airport. I think they share cars or something. When I was there, the big sign on the building says Thrifty, but a few of the parking spaces had little signs over them that said Dollar. So if we can make this club deal happen, I'd ask you to consider moving your reservations to this club deal with Thrifty. Everyone might get a better price and Dollar wouldn't really be inconvenienced. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Help save the life of a child.
