Starter Issue

When going to start my car today leaving a store (so
the engine was warm) my starter refused to shut off.
Had to disconnect the battery in order to shut it off.
The large black and smaller brown wire connected to
the starter were not crossed anywhere. While down
there I noticed that I had lost the lower bolt that
attaches the starter to the block and the upper bolt
was very loose. Tightening the remaining bolt made no
difference. Also the small gauge ground wire that was
attached to neg. on the battery and ran to a bolt in
the engine compartment was completely fried
(insulation smoked and charred to a crisp) before I
was able to disconnect the battery. Checked the wires
that plug into ignition, and opened up the relay...
all seemed okay. I ended up disconnecting the brown
wire on the relay. Now the only way to drive my 300 is
to turn the key, pop the hood, touch the brown wire on
the relay till the starter kicks it on then remove the
wire. Any suggestion as to what what is going on, and
or a solution????????? I'm stumped.

Sincerely,
Sean
