Hi David, The only source I can think of, for the boot only, is Andy Bernbaum . His part number Q-103 . Cost $22.50 in his catalog #32. Call (617) 457-1250 to order - Eastern Time, Massachusetts. Replacing this damn boot can be a son-of-a-bitch. The boot has to be "threaded" or "pushed by" the joint, after being liberally coated in grease, with the sometimes result that the new boot gets damaged/ripped in the process. I'd order two of them , just in case. The "correct" way of replacing the boot is to take the whole dang joint apart, which means pressing out the cross-pin. In order to reinstall it, one needs the correct centering tool.... which only my local, very experienced driveshaft shop has... if the pin is even a few hundred's off center, vibration will ensue John ----- Original Message ----- From: <HEADWAVE@xxxx> To: <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 01, 2003 6:51 PM Subject: [Chrysler300] labor day question greetings all and hope you are having a good labor day. the question is, the detroit boot, aka the u joint cust cover. need one for my E, original part number is 1450-448. so far phone calls have come up empty, except for kits that include the boot and a new joint -- either nos or nors. i am concerned that these or any i find will be brittle. crack in one on car now is small. talked with Paul Funkhouser, and he gave me a wesco manufacturing # 62-8000, and another #, 440871-1. I will check auto parts places to see if they list by manufacturer #, as a couple calls under the chrysler # got me nowhere. soo --- stop rambling. i am sure someone has encountered this -- let me know what you did. thanks.
