[Chrysler300] 55 air cleaner info

This message from George Riehl:

The FRAM air filter elements used on the Mercury (Carl Kiekhaefer) '55 & '56
300s that he raced were specially made by FRAM for him. The problem
encountered was that in the turns, oil would "slosh" out (or be sucked out
at high speeds) of the oil bath resivoir, sucking in dirt. Carl knew the
people at FRAM and presented this problem to them. They made the filter and
the covering housings for him. Somewhere I have a picture of this set-up on
one of his 300s. The FRAM conversion was never availble to the public. At
one point, as the story goes, he tried the small HELLINGS air cleaner
assemblies like the hot rodders used on their early Fords. But they did not
breath good enough and got clogged quickly.
