The parts book shows the 2317S being used, front and rear, for BOTH C300 and 300B. Then the next line shows for the 300B only, a 2444S for the front and a 2445S for the rear. Refering to the AMA specifications, revision 12-5-55 reveals a N/A for the 1956 300. Of course, this was before the 300 was officially announced. On 2-4-56, the AMA specs were revised to specify the 2444S and 2445S for the 300B. I think it is safe to say that early cars did, in fact use the 1955 C300 setup. The only difference I can tell between the later 300B front and rear carbs in in the main metering jet and metering rods. 3N56 1049 was built on Jan. 16, 1956. Hope this helps a little. 300ly, Gil C.
