A 6 volt system doesn't need a resistor at all. The purpose of the  
resistor is to reduce the voltage from 12 to 6 to prevent the points  
from burning up from spark jump. It must be for the Imperials, but they  
wouldn't be any different from the resistors that followed in '56 when  
they went to 12 volts
