Back in the late 60's I felt a continuous bounce/vibration in the rear of my
Plymouth after having a new set of Goodyear's installed.  After some wasted
effort I jacked up the rear of the car (both wheels) and ran the car.  It
was very easy to see (and measure) that the tire was out of round by over
1/2 inch.  The wheel was fine.  Goodyear gave me a new tire.

Over the years I once bought a Champion plug that had not had the gap ground
(the electrode went right to the curved tip). Also installed an oil filter
that leaked right from the crimped seal at the bottom of the canister.
These experiences have made me a little more cautious whenever I put
something new on my car.

On a different subject does anyone know much about Chrysler's new "Supplier
Park" venture in Toledo, Ohio.  I believe it is a different approach to
manufacturing where 3-4 major suppliers build/operate plants at the same
location and then Chrysler does a minimal amount of work to the final
assembled auto.  I can't find much info about the project - but it seems
like a good way to better control costs - I guess that is the main idea.
