Just to clarify, it should have said: DO NOT REMOVE THE MOTOR WITHOUT PUTTING A LONG BOLT THRU A HOLE IN THE REGULATOR FRAME ON EACH SIDE OF THE LIFT ARM TO ACT AS A STOP. The idea being to secure the Lift Arm (which attaches to the glass) BEFORE removing the motor bolts. This will contain the spring energy of the spring. After the motor is out you can mount the frame in a vise and take off whatever you have securing it while holding the arm and then slowly release the tension.
