Any theories, recollections or references to the nature of the external appearance, brand and design of the original 6-Volt battery in the 1955 C-300? The service manual lists only a 2H-135 battery for NY & Imp-135 amp-hour, 6-volt, 19 plates. If that is plates/cell, it would be a 58 plate battery. The parts manual lists essentially two 6-Volt different batteries for 1955 Chryslers, but with apparently garbled part numbers and specifications. One is a 100 Amp, 45 plate battery and the other a 115 Amp, 51 plate battery. Dimensions for both the same: 10 1/4" X 6 7/8" X 8 9/16". Antique Auto Battery lists a MoPar G20M battery as 100% correct-dimensions 10 1/4" X 6 3/4" X 9" 780 CCA. But it seems I have heard the original batteries were some other brand-Willard or Autolite? I recall that our club judges do not deduct any points for any black battery with top posts. Its cranking ability is equivilent to the Omni battery i used in another car. The extra bucks were woth it to have a reliable battery and the correct look all in one. I have previously purchased the correct look retro batterys in regular form but they constantly required a battery tender to keep them alive.
