RE: [Chrysler300] Old and New

Matt's comment about encountering new 300 in traffic whilst in an original
300, the number of new 300s, is not so common/typical over here in
Australia.

The new 300 was finally launched here only in November, and despite driving
daily (only about 15 miles city traffic), I have only seen/struck two over
here in South Australia, and the first time I was in my slightly modded 71
El Camino, so I was hoping we got side by side at the lights, but he turned
right just as we came together. My El runs standard 2.55 diff gears, but
recently was able to outrun a new V8 Maserati up to about 80 mph, so it
would have been interesting to see how new 300 went. In our aussie Unique
Carss Nov Road Test comparision, the new 300 gets it's acceleration over
older/original 300s by having extra gears.

Sales wise, apparently our Australian allocation of about 1500 standard 300s
is going OK, as well as apparently our year's whole allocation of (120)
bigger motor models are vitually sold out, even though none here yet. I
just did a a near 1500 mile trip in my El, week's drive, to our nation's
biggest car swap (over 2500 sites - no 300 stuff there, plus perhaps in the
last year ebay has ruined seeing rare stuff taken there?), and only saw one
new 300, in commuter traffic in Melbourne, our 2nd largest City, population
of about 3 million. Melbourne has old rich money, usually sees many
fine/new cars sold there.

Also been using my 57 TBird as daily hack last few days - I love the
slightly rodded bird, but boy you miss that original 1957 392 Hemi
rush/grunt, and the Bird is also a bit of a dray chassis wise versus the C.

Hope your weather over there is more friendly now again for sunny driving,
it gettting into early autumn here, althouh tomorrow is supposed to be over
the 100 mark.
yours from Oz, Christopher
