Hello Fellow 300 Enthusiasts. My Name is Sean from Melbourne Australia. As Chrysler enthusiasts, my Brother, Father & I have always admired Letter cars; Earlier this year my Dad had a nasty stroke, he is recovering well, but instead of talking about doing a letter car together one day, this prompted us to make our first move to own and Restore one. The car of choice was the last of the first Generation Hemi's, a '58 D, and wouldn't you know it, one poped up on e-bay for us earlier this year. So we are now the proud owners of LC4-1414! We have some work cut out for us to return this machine to its former glory, but we are itching to go. Does anybody have a little history about this car at all for interests sake? To kick things off, we just want to run it a little before the tear down. The motor is strong and running seemingly very well, but to get it registered we need a couple of things. I was hoping some of the crew out there could point us in the best direction: 1) We need a New tinted screen, The old one has some very heavy & deep scratches which will prevent registration. Who is the best contact in this dept who I hope can ship down under? For what year range did this screen run? 2) Who is the best source for brake parts, and can they furnish the disc brake kits I have seen? I think this would not go astray on such a big fast car as the D! While we are having a little fun running around, we need to start to collect the mandatory parts: To kick it off, In the sheetmetal dept, who is the best source? We need floor pans, sills & probably qtr panels or at least wheel arches. How are Classic Fabrications out of Surfside beach, SC? Where are Metalcrafters? We have a good set of 300C caps on this car to trade for some 300D caps, or does anybody have a set of good D caps they could part with? The car probably need a full set of new external medallions, with the 300D lettering. Who is the best source and how do you get a catalogue? I think we are going to need a lot of NOS or repo stuff! What lets her down at the moment is a missing side chrome insert panel above the bumper return. The part that wrapes around from the air intake. this is the LHS, any one have a nice one? The rear bumper chome fill in panel is also really rough. Any one have a straight and nice one of these? This would clean it up a little at present. Once the project starts, we will look forward to keeping you guys up to date on the progress. Thanks again and look forward to making some New Chrysler friends in the States, and abroad. I have restored some nice Aussie MoPars, If any body is interested in some unique and different Aussie Chryslers with an American flavour, shoot me an e-mail and I will show you some pics.
