Hi Jim, I am pretty sure Gary Nelson only did the masking kits for the 300C hubcaps. Those are really tough, because of the many, many little "squares" that have to be painted individually. A 300G hubcap is quite easy to repaint. First, remove the center chrome spinner. Then, clean up the hubcaps really good - best to polish them up BEFORE repainting. I use Noxon metal polish available in supermarkets and hardware stores. Next, clean up the painted area real well. You may want to remove all of the old paint, using paint remover, depending on whether it's chipped or damaged. If it's just old and faded, and has good adhesion, proceed to next step. Mask off (using regular masking tape) the area around the paint (to avoid damage and scratches to the stainless). Using a scuff pad, rough up the surface to be painted real good. Remove the masking tape. Clean off the hubcap real, real good with Prep-Sol surface prep / degreaser fluid. This is very important. Use repeated applications with clean cloths each time. You need to remove ALL of the grease and crap to ensure a smooth finish without fisheyes or blotches Next, wearing gloves (so as not to get any grease or oil from your fingers onto the cleaned and prepped center area), mask off once again the circumference of the area to be painted. Use some quality making tape so as to leave a clean line when removing it. (Next - optional) - heat up the hubcaps a little bit. Make sure they are at least warm. In the winter I throw them in the oven at about 125 degrees for a couple minutes to get them warm. Paint the center of the hubcap. Take your time. Many thin coats. No heavy coats. Allow to tack-dry between coats. Remove masking tape. Reassemble hubcap. Sit back, have a beer, admire your handiwork. John Hertog ------------------------ Yahoo!
