Hi Mark, Seems like the evil rust has reared its ugly head. Without knowing exactly what areas are affected, it's hard to answer your question. I know we are talking about the unibody itself. The firewall itself is unique to 1960 and 1961; it changes in some respects for 1962 and younger, has a different shape around where the brake pedal is mounted. Depending on how much of it you need to replace, you will have to decide whether you can only use a '60 /'61 firewall, or whether a later one would have enough of what you need. Ditto for the rest of the unibody sheetmetal. It won't really matter whether your donor car is a long wheelbase or a short wheelbase; from the firewall back, the unibodies are essentially the same, the differences are firewall forward. In other words, if you find a suitable '61 Newport - go for it ! There is also a difference in the opening behind the heater box, depending on whether it's a factory a/c car, or not. I already have clean doors, hood, lids & fenders. My question is what models and years can I consider? I know a 61 New Yorker would work but what about other years? Also, I know that the Newport is smaller, but is the difference in front of the firewall so that it could still be used? Thanks in advance.
