P/N 1672 980 is shown as center link for all 1957 Chryslers.  Oddly, the 58 
Chrysler P/N is 1673 008 in the original parts book as well as the May 1964 
reprint of 55-58 Parts List.  The different number for the 58 is not shown 
as a new number either.
There appears to be a Type 1 and a Type 2 linkage gear arm.  Type 2 is for 
57 and 58 while Type 2 is 58 only.  This is for our model LC3.
In 1959, the 2 numbers are listed but the 1672 980 is MC3.
I would almost tend to believe that the 55-58 parts book was in error and 
the 1672 980 number should have carried through for the entire line 57, 58 
and 59 without the printed deviation for the 58.
That could happen if there was a change during the model year and the error 
was caught the next year.
