Is there anyone out there that has a Mopar Parts Number Book that covers around 1955-1957, or else has an early series 300 that they believe has either factory or Dealer installed Factory issue cable end Mopar seatbelts ( which could, or should have, cast alloy lift flap buckles that carry the manufacturer (for Chrysler) name of "Brown-Line" Beverly Hills CA ? ) And please it might be better if all/any replies off list to me direct. The sewn in white rectangular Mopar logo tags carry parts numbers 1772383, and 1772400 - and they are on Mopar Seat Belts in one of my 300Cs, possibly/likely as original/early installations, as everything else on car except replaced carpet and wrong 'non 300C vinyl' headliner seems original to '57 300C era/build. >From earlier first (unsuccessful to date) mention here of these cable ended belts, it seems from the few replies to date, that they are either 1955 design, (1955 1st issue), type, or possibly a later variation? Any help re exactly how they are listed in any Mopar Parts Book may clarify exactly what year the part numbers the two pieces to each pair of belts is. The other unsolved question is how they were/should have been installed, re whether the wire cabling was to be totally underfloor - or threaded through the floor then rest under - or all the wire cable part clamped to floor behind front seat in cabin. The car they are in had had new carpet fitted before I got it some years ago, and although now with cable above floor, the two small holes drilled in the floor for each belt end/mounting, could have originally, before new carpet, have seen the two cables go through floor and their ends be clamped under the car. ( Whomever drilled the holes originally, knew exactly the one only correct place to drill them, so they would not see either the mount clamping,(or if cables through floor) be able to tear the floor metal if in an accident, or be cut by the metal edges of the floors.) As part of rust resto, they are out of the car, but I am now ready to re-install them, so I would prefer to see it done as they should be, as they maybe were before whomever disturbed them when fitting the new carpet? Sorry if the detail seems long, but it seems important that the actual year of them and the factory reccommended installation of these perhaps not too common items be established for sure? (Plymouths and other Mopars surely had same/similar factory issue belts as 300ABCs?) thanks for any help/advice, Christopher in Oz To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/ Yahoo!
