My local muffler shop has a computerized bending machine that has a card for the 1955 Chrysler. He says he can bend it in any OD tubing desired. I presume you would have similarly equipped vendor in your area. I can't put my hands on the full specs on proper factory-size tubing for the various pieces and would appreciate being advised of same. I seem to recall the C-300 had larger tubing in some or all of the sections of its exhaust system. The original stock mufflers for the C-300's carry different part numbers than other Chryslers, but apparently kept the car's exhaust note sweet and civil. I doubt you'd ever find NOS mufflers for a 1955 Chrysler 300. The Parts Manual shows two mufflers on each side for Chryslers and Imperials, but the Service Manual only shows one. Acceptability of aluminized, stainless or just muffler grade steel on the tubing and mufflers by our judges would be of interest. Of three C-300's at Lawton, two had corroded exhaust systems and one looked quite nice and shiny, but wasn't stainless. Perhaps aluminized? After I blew a muffler off, I decided to heck with that noise and installed "Three-Chamber" Flowmasters--much shorter mufflers that allow a moderate amount of exhaust note. Our concours judges did not care for those Flowmasters (or anything else on the grubby, greasy bottom of my car). Original-style clamps and hangers are sometimes available, if this is important to you. A Studebaker Club offers reproduction chrome and stainless oval exhaust tips that are appropriate for our C-300's, but I can't seem to find the website-catalog. All that said, let us all know if you find a remote vendor that can provide a historically accurate exhaust system that bolts up without banging the chassis, shocks, axle or gas tank. I'm thinking the likelihood of that happening without some bending & tweaking would be minimal. Good luck and C-300'ly, Rich Barber Brentwood, CA -----Original Message----- From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of arsmith@xxxxxxx Sent: Friday, October 27, 2006 10:40 AM To: chrysler300 Subject: [Chrysler300] exhaust system c300 Help, Need exhaust pipes & mufflers for my 55 C300 Balto.
