RE: [Chrysler300] fuel sender

You may have to bend the float arm and/or adjust the rotation stops to get
the correct angle. If it's like the unit on my '55, it works as a variable
resistor. I dummied up a signal using fixed and variable resistors from
Radio Shack to see what resistance the gage sees as empty and full. I think
it ranged from about 10 Ohms full to 72 Ohms empty. Knowing this, I was
able to adjust the arm to generate those values when empty and full. My
rebuilt sender was very poorly done, but I was able to make it work.
Getting a good ground from the sender is important and I had to run a
separate ground wire to the sending unit to get a good signal.

Subject: [Chrysler300] fuel sender

The fuel sending unit on my 300E has gone bad and after three repair
attempts, I have tried replacing it with a 57-59 repro unit I found online.
The repro registered 1/2 full when first installed, with the tank near empty
and now reads at 7/8 after adding 12 gal, which should be closer to a half
tank of fuel. So it look like the float on the repro does not sit correctly.

Any advice besides replacement?

Anbody out there have a NOS sending unit or very good used?
If so, please reply offline as I'd like to get the first chance to purchase
one if one is out there to be had.

Thanks, JD
