Bill, Lighting loads have a high inrush of current as well. Tungsten has a variable resistance, as it heats up it's resistance changes. That's why industry has "lighting contactors" (large relays). Tungsten heats very rapidly so the high current is in effect abount one second but it will shorten the life of a standard contactor (relay) if you cycle it frequently.
