I successfully used CLR full strength to (mostly) remove rust stains on the vinyl-covered visors on my 1955 C-300. There is also a dry acid product called ZUD that might have a very mild abrasive effect and is used to remove rust from counters, tubs, glassware, cooking utensils, driveways & etc. Eye, skin and respiratory protection are highly recommended. I think you could soak the lenses in CLR if the rust has penetrated the plastic. Meguiars has two products for removing light scratches and polishing plastic. Essentially very mild abrasive in a heavy volatile liquid and probably a light wax in the polishing product. Aircraft supply stores also sell great products for removing scratches from Plexiglas. If you have clip-on mirrors, registration holders or other items on your visors, they can leave ugly rust stains and permanent imprints on visors as moisture can condense on the steel clips. Removal is highly recommended. There is a product called CLR (calcium, lime, and rust) that advertises it removes rust stains. You dilute the product in water and soak for a short period of time. It does work on bathtubs and I've had success on concrete. I doubt it would have any adverse effects on the plastic.
